I just finished putting a new quilt in my Etsy Shop. It's called "Royal Peacocks" and was made with fabric from the "Royal Peacocks" fabric collection by Exclusively Quilters. This quilted wall hanging has the most luscious bright colors with metallic gold filigree and outlines. The front side highlights the large strutting peacock in all his majestic plumage surrounded by a border of smaller peacocks strutting beside gold metallic trees with leaves of red and green ... simply beautiful!
The reverse side features a smaller version of the peacock with elaborate surrounding designs in blue, purple, red, and metallic gold filigree on black. The outer border is large brilliant peacock feathers!
If you are interested, take a look here in my store. I'm off to add the photos to my Facebook page and my flicker photo album!
Have a wonderful day!

A Rooster Tale
I just ran across a thank you card that a friend made for me to show her appreciation for a quilt that I gave her. It was a rooster quilt that I had actually made for another friend as a joke because she didn't like any type of rooster/chicken decor (nasty birds) and couldn't understand why anyone else would ever want any of it in their homes! Some time later I saw this wonderful rooster fabric and decided to make a quilt that she would love AND be willing to put it in her home, right? No, she still wouldn't have anything to do with it, but another friend said she wanted it! So, I gave it to her, instead. (These friends are members of my club, so no hard feelings by anyone!) I had forgotten to take a photo of the "Roosters" quilt, but Mary took one after she had hung it in her dining room and made me this card. It's such a wonderful card and very creative. I just love it! Have a look. This is the front of the card and the actual quilt after Mary hung it up:
This is the inside of the card with a beautiful note and individual photos of parts of the quilt:
And lastly, the back of the card had one more photo and her own production company logo!
A finer, more beautiful thank you card I have never received. Thank you, Mary!
Well, I must go watch some TV with my hubby ... more later!
Hugs,

Update on my Club Quilt
I promised a photo of my Club Quilt when it was finished. Well, I forgot to take a photo before I took it to my club so I had another club member take the photo there for me. Then she couldn't find it (she's a photographer and it had gotten lost amongst all her other works). Then the quilt wasn't available for a long time because we passed it around to each member to take home until the next meeting. Anyway I finally got the photo and here it is!
See the last block on the bottom right? That's the one I made ... she reminds me of the "Maxine" cartoon character. I always love her so when I was trying to decide what I should change on my blog, I decided to use this block as my icon. Every time I load up my blog I get greeted by her and I laugh! A great improvement, I think ... what about you?
Hugs,

Baby Quilts
Since I haven't really blogged in a while, I thought I would show some of my favorite baby quilts. This one, called "Love the Ride" is for a sweet baby girl, all pink and ruffly. The fabrics are from the Paris Flea Market line by 3 Sisters for Moda. I just loved them and used them in a lot of quilts (still have some left so they'll probably be used again some day). No pre-made pattern ... all my design.
I drew the buggy and then enlarged it to use as a pattern. Then hand-appliqued it to the center block. I added lace around the top, a ruffle, and sewed on some green buttons as hubcaps and on the handle. I know the wheels look strange, but they are supposed to look like they are moving (alright, I'm not an artist). I then surrounded the center block with an inner patchwork border, followed by the larger outer border with pink and white checks. I decided to play around with my long-arm quilting machine and did some echo quilting around the buggy and made some hearts at the outer edge of the white center block. The rest of the quilt is stippled or meander-quilted. Here are some more detailed views:
The next one is for a boy ... somewhat similar to the above quilt. It's called "Little Lamb". I also made a matching diaper bag for this one.
The lamb's wool is handmade chenille ... the first and only time I'll make that! Cheaper to buy it ready to use.
Once again, you can clearly see that I am not an artist! The fabrics in this one are mostly from "Dandelion Girl" collection by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree Quilts for Moda. I used a lot more of these fabrics in another quilt called "Tweet Tweet" that I will share with you later. This fabric is beautiful and in very soft pastels.
Here is a simple patchwork called "Bella Baby" featuring a collection by Michele D'Amore for Marcus Brothers. It's a really cute fabric line with baby clothes and buggies and polka dots! It comes in pink and brown or blue and brown. The diaper bag has a zippered closure on top, zippered pocket inside and an outer side pocket.
The last one I'm showing today is called "Pink and Lace". Its a simple patchwork (I don't know why I make these, I don't particularly like patchwork and they are wayyyy to easy to make ... doesn't even stir up my creative juices at all)! As you can see, I used the "Paris Flea Market" fabrics and added lace to all the white blocks. The quilting for this is called outline quilting ... only quilt around each of the blocks ... this gives the quilt a much more "comforter" feel to it ... soft and gentle.
All of these baby quilts are still available for purchase in my Etsy shop (right hand side of this blog - just click on it to go there). "Little Lamb" is not in my store, but I would be happy to create a reserved listing for anyone who is interested.

Well, I've got to go now. My embroidery and quilting group meets tonight and I have to find some food to take.

My Blog Got a Face Lift!
About time! I was getting depressed every time I looked at my blog so I decided to change it. Do you like it? Of course, it would help if I actually posted more often (I will try real hard)! I’m also trying to change my labeling since I think I finally figured out how it is used (for searches on the Web and to go to the posts that included that label). It will take a while before I get done with that. I have changed the comments so that when you click on the comments icon under a post you will get a pop-up showing all the comments made and where you can enter yours.
I have also received comments that I should show more of my quilts, both completed and in-process, so I’ll try to do that. I have uploaded pictures of most of my quilts onto my Flickr account which you can go to and view (Flickr badge on the right hand side of blog) and on my Facebook page which you can’t get to yet. I am working on that now also, and soon will be adding a link to it on this blog. I hope you can check out these applications if you have time … your feedback is very important to me. Besides, there are all sorts of wonderful things to look at on Flickr!
Remember to leave all the comments you can think of to help me turn this blog into something interesting to you!
I’ve got to go … today is my 31st Anniversary and my sweet hubby is taking me out to dinner!
Have a wonderful day!
